What the results tell us for Snowy River
125 noise complaints were received by the Council in this reporting period. The main data available (See Table 1) covers complaints for barking dogs (111 complaints received), licensed premises (12 complaints) mainly in the ski season and vehicles (boats and trucks) (two complaints).
There are no records supplied of any complaints received by New South Wales (NSW) Police during 2004-08, however it is understood that complaints were dealt with by police in many cases.

Shire Council action
In relation to the problem of barking dogs, Council released a “barking dog” press release encouraging people to report complaints to Council and seek help if their dog was causing a noise nuisance. Council rangers visited the owners and resolved the issues. In relation to noises from people leaving premises late at night, resort management introduced and advertised a noise management procedure aimed at dealing with complaints and reducing noise.
