What the results tell us for Boorowa

Effluent generated in the township of Boorowa is disposed of into the Boorowa sewage treatment plant or into septic tanks. After treatment, effluent from the plant is discharged into the Boorowa River via an irrigation channel.

The New South Wales (NSW) Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC) regulates most sewage treatment systems owned by state and local government. The DECC licences the Boorowa Treatment Plant to discharge into waters at a maximum daily rate of 1000 KL/day. The Boorowa Treatment Plant is also licenced to discharge 50 KL/day to Ryans Creek.

No records are available for volumes of discharge and mass loads of nitrogen and phosphorus between 2004-05 and 2007-08. However, Total Suspended Solids was exceeded three times during 2006-07.
