What the results tell us for Queanbeyan

Smoke from domestic wood-burning heaters is a localised problem during winter in the Greater Queanbeyan area, when temperature inversions that trap air pollution close to the ground may occur. Air quality monitoring data were not available for the reporting period to assess whether there has been any change in air quality over time.

Emissions from motor vehicles continue to have an impact on outdoor air quality across Australia, although this is most apparent in the larger population centres. Queanbeyan City Council is unlikely to be exposed to noticeable reductions in air quality due to vehicle emissions, although large numbers of seasonal visitors or an increase in traffic through flow, may cause some reduction in outdoor air quality.
