Resources for heritage identification and management
Although the Gundagai Shire Council has established a Heritage Advisory Committee to conserve and enhance the Heritage of the Shire, there is little record of its activities in annual reports.
There is no community heritage advisory service in the Shire.
A Local Environmental Plan (LEP) would greatly assist in the identification and conservation of the Shire’s heritage places but progress on the LEP has not yet produced such a Plan.
Recent Annual Reports from the Shire even identify the issue as ‘particularly critical in protecting our many heritage assets such as the Dog on the Tuckerbox precinct’.
