What the results tell us for Goulburn Mulwaree

Other than localized wood smoke from domestic heaters in winter, air quality in the Goulburn Mulwaree Council area was generally considered to be acceptable during the current reporting period. Since there is no routine air quality monitoring in the area there is no way to assess whether there has been any change in air quality over time.

Temperature inversions that trap air pollution close to the ground are relatively common in winter, which can lead to relatively short-lived reductions in air quality due to smoke from solid fuel stoves.

Emissions from motor vehicles continue to have an impact on outdoor air quality across Australia, although this is most apparent in the larger population centres. Goulburn Mulwaree Council area is unlikely to be exposed to noticeable reductions in air quality due to vehicle emissions, although large numbers of seasonal visitors or an increase in traffic through flow, may cause some reduction in outdoor air quality.
